One of the most awaited national events has just come to an end: ICE, Incontro Culturale Erasmus (Erasmus Cultural Meeting), was held in Rome from the 8th to the 10th of November.
Every year ICE gathers thousands of young people around one of the cornerstone of life: culture. In this magic scenario that Rome offers, the so-called "A night at the Capitoline Museums" was the main event for the educational side of this meeting. Starting from the "Sala degli Orazi e Curiazi" - from the subject of one of the frescoes - the Erasmus students could lose themselves in some of the episodes that narrated the origins of Rome. The journey to Roman discovery continued in the other rooms, where our delegation could closely observe the Capitoline Wolf, the symbol of the city. In short, an unforgettable experience that is hard to take part to in one's life.
ESN also does this though: it transforms utopia into reality.
From the history of Rome, our Erasmus students have been catapulted into the daily life of the Italian capital through a guided city tour. Walking through its characteristic alleys, enjoying glimpses of all the monuments that make Rome a city of incomparable charm, students were able to experience "dolce vita" first-hand.
Eventually the flag parade crowned this cultural gathering: an itinerant party through the streets of Rome, which involved not only the participants, but also lots of tourists and locals. There is no better opportunity for ICE to declare its intent: to bring people together in diversity.
There were many young people representing ESN Torino, each of them engaged in different roles and activities: one member of the OC, two photographers, three participating volunteers, three companions, and thirty-one Erasmus students. Altogether forty members from Turin "here for the plot".
An intense and exhaustive plot that left a bit of nostalgia in all of us. However, living also means waking up from dreams.
