Co-funded by the European Union,"Be a changemaker for sustainable campus" is a project in which our section took part this year, in collaboration with Edisu Piemonte and Crous Versailles. The aim is to promote the concept of a sustainable campus that reduces its carbon footprint, promotes social inclusion, social and climate justice, and supports the implementation of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
Divided into several activities involving local and international students, the project covered several hot topics of our time: how can alternative diets have an impact on the environment? What impact do universities have on the environment? These are some of the questions we tried to answer not only on a theoretical level, but also on a practical level. Indeed, we want to overturn the saying "all mouth and no trousers", aware that difference can only be made by action.
From the bike tour along the Po river to the sustainable weekend in Bardonecchia, there were many entertaining workshops focused on raising awareness about environmental issues. Eventually this project - which the entire section is very proud of - came to an end with the sustainable cooking class. This workshop brought together about sixty Erasmus students in Turin who got involved in the kitchen, trying to transform scraps into tasty dishes for the final convivial lunch.
We could call it the 3Rs project: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Reduce consumption, reuse materials, and recycle them at the end of their life. Regardless of age, this is a theme that everyone should be educated about, though it is well known that change can only start from new generations.
ESN Torino ranked second with the Sustainable Cooking Class during the #SectionInTheSpotlight in December, a project through which ESN Italy aims to reward the activities carried out by the sections. Article by Elisa GnaniTranslation by Greta Fregosi
