The new OLA is here!
The new version of the Online Learning Agreement platform has been released and is now available and within reach of the Erasmus Generation, as part of the digitisation process of the Erasmus+ programme.
The OLA can be used by students participating in an Erasmus+ mobility for study or traineeship between higher education institutions that have the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. The learning agreement is a key document for participating in an Erasmus+ mobility.
Starting with the Erasmus+ programme 2021-2027, the online version of the learning agreement will become the norm.

In recent years, we have been able to see how digital learning agreements can dramatically reduce the administrative workload and make it easier for students to experience high-quality mobility. In the past, the complexity of the bureaucratic process has led to learning agreements not always finalized before departure, as well as problems with the recognition of training credits (ECTS) after students return home.
In 2015 ESN joined the initiative launched by the European University Foundation (EUF), called Online Learning Agreement, which will develop a tool for students and universities to create and write a digital learning agreement. In May 2017, OLA was launched in a way that allows higher education institutions to test its efficiency and then adopt it if successful.
EUF continued with another project, OLA+, which included adding new functionalities to the platform, such as learning agreements for traineeships and an assessment of user satisfaction. In a survey conducted at the end of 2019 - beginning of 2020, more than 90% of students said they would recommend OLA to their peers. In addition, 93% of URIs think that all learning agreements should be completed online through an easy-to-use tool.
Having a more robust, secure, transparent and flexible OLA now ensures that this will continue in the years to come. More information about the changes made in the new OLA can be found in the Release Notes.
In the coming months, the Learning Agreement Online will be integrated into the new Erasmus+ app. The Learning Agreements signed for the current semester, as well as those for traineeships, are still available on the previous OLA platform.
OLA and Erasmus Without Paper are the first two major digitisation initiatives in which the Erasmus Student Network has played a leading role. As a result, ESN is now actively involved in other digitisation initiatives such as Erasmus Skills or the new Erasmus+ App.
The Online Learning Agreement 3.0 is an Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnership funded by the National Agency of Luxembourg, to which we want to give recognition for the continuous support given to such an ambitious project.
